When our son Logan was born we had the privilege of having Feven as our doula. She came at 2am to our house at the start of my contractions and stayed until Logan was born at 5pm that afternoon at KEMH. Not once did she leave my side but was a constant force of encouragement, support and assistance for both me and my husband. She made sure I was hydrated, comfortable and calm at all times. She massaged my back, held my hand, and she even offered her body as support when I needed to lean on something and through it all stayed calm and positive. Both my husband and I felt a sense of security and peace having her with us. It was such a blessing.

"I don't believe in coincidences... My doctor had recommended that I consider finding a doula due to my unique circumstances. A few weeks later I was at a dinner and Feven was also there. I was about four months pregnant, someone had mentioned that Feven was a doula and we agreed to talk more later. Feven became my doula soon after. She became a permanent fixture on my Blackberry and she would regularly check in to see how I was feeling; always recommending things to help when I had certain issues. I probably asked a lot of dumb questions and she always listened and provided me with resources and options. Even though Feven was on crutches, she came with me to my birthing classes and made me feel comfortable. She continued checking on me throughout my pregnancy and visited me at home providing books to read and DVDs to watch. It was important to me that my mother would be included in some way during the birth so Feven met my mother and we were all on the same page as to what was expected. Feven helped me with my birth plan and we discussed various options as I had intended on having a natural drug-free delivery. At 41.5 weeks, Feven was with me a few hours after my labour started and returned when the contractions became more aggressive. Due to complications I ended up having a c-section and Feven was calm and reassuring during the procedure. She brought my daughter Allegra to me to hold when I was still on the table and after my tears of joy; she made me feel at ease knowing that Allegra would be in good hands while I was in recovery for a few hours. When I was wheeled into my room in the maternity ward, Feven and my mother came in with Allegra. Feven helped to make sure that Allegra had latched on and stayed for several hours returning that night to make sure we were okay. There were also follow-up visits and checkups after the birth. I would not hesitate to recommend Feven as a doula. She is wise, calm, loving and compassionate. She was a Godsend and has become a true friend to me and an Auntie to Allegra. There is a special bond we will always share. As I was saying earlier, I don't believe in coincidences. Things happen for a reason... Big love and thanks to Feven for all of her guidance and support xo"

I am blessed to have known Feven for years as a good friend before becoming pregnant with my second child. Of course as her friend I knew she had worked hard at getting her Doula certification but I had no real idea of what was involved until she was my Doula. My first child was already 15 and I had never even heard of a Doula when he was born.
As an older expecting mother I had my worries and concerns and Feven was a constant source of information, reassurance and support. She would answer all kinds of questions about the pregnancy, the birth process, the baby. She checked in on me regularly throughout the pregnancy and came to my aid when a few issues arose. She helped me to understand all of the information required for birth plan decisions but never pushed her own personal preferences on me. As my son was 2 weeks past due I was induced and it was a very intense labour. Feven was there every step of the way as the calm, reassuring energy in the room. Even though my husband was there supporting me, I was so grateful for Feven's presence. She seemed to have that magic intuitive touch when it came to knowing just where to massage or apply pressure to provide relief. She always seemed to know what was needed beforehand and when the next stage came she was already prepared for it. When it all became so overwhelming her experience and calm reassurance guided us through.
And the support does not end at birth After our son was born I had a number of issues initially with breastfeeding. Feven helped directly and then coordinated expert help for me.
Feven is passionate about helping women have a positive birth experience. That passion combined with her experience and calm energy result in a Doula that you can count on throughout the entire process.

After having considered our birthing options, my husband and I opted to stay home during early labor and transfer to the hospital during active labor so that we could have a birth with as little interventions as possible. However, several hours after my contractions had begun,I was about to ditch my birth plan and go the hospital to have ANYTHING administered for the pain. Then Feven arrived. By some miracle, she managed to get me to redirect my focus until it was time to go the hospital. Once at the hospital, she did a wonderful job of supporting me through the birthing process with everything from encouraging me to try a variety of birthing positions, to helping to restore my resolve when I felt I had no energy left.
In all, Feven was an amazing doula. From home to the hospital, she did an amazing job of ensuring that we stuck to our birth plan. Moreover, her calming presence and warm encouragement helped to make our first birth a very positive experience, and we look forward to having her present at our next.
Thank you once again Feven!
